Asha Ward’s “Follow Friday” Comedian Interview

Although we live in these frankly earlier times, we also fully exist in the future. And a futuristic lifestyle calls for a modern take on our tradition.”Follow Friday column. At Vulture, we’ve ditched our Luddite ways, opting for a more interactive digital angle over what was once just plain text on a webpage. We want you to get to know our favorite comics, writers, and funny social media presences face-to-face (or at least screen-to-screen). So we hope you enjoy our new and improved version of “Follow Friday”, based on Instagram Live.

This week I had the special honor of sitting down for a virtual chat with an Asha Ward on her lunch break (Second City, the Bell House, sleeping with her dog in the bed much to her family’s chagrin) on acting classes, pediatric dentistry and gay shit. She shared the near-Odyssean saga of moving to New York, gave great tips for flossing on a schedule, and confessed a deep secret about her TV habits. She also explained her incredibly justified (and universally relatable) reason for taking an improv class when she arrived in Brooklyn: “It’s because all my roommates started having sex with each other, so I don’t didn’t want to be home. It just made the vibe really weird in my apartment because everyone was still in their feelings.
