PHOENIX, June 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Local Glass Trading Company Carlson Glass Inc. launches a registered apprenticeship program for glaziers, the only program of its kind in Arizona. The Carlson glass is at the head of the Arizona commercial glass market with its innovative, high-end and forward-thinking approach to the fabrication and installation of storefront and curtain wall systems. The glass and glazing trades are in high demand in the Phoenix market, and Carlson Glass is redoubling its efforts to recruit future employees who are interested in either changing careers or learning a new trade.

Carlson Glass has launched a registered apprenticeship program for glaziers, the only program of its kind in Arizona.

The 3-year apprenticeship includes on-the-job training and courses through the National Glass Association with successful apprentices earning a diploma recognized by the Department of Labor. Apprentices will learn everything they need to embark on a career in the growing glass and glazing industry, including:

  • Architectural glass and metal manufacturing techniques,
  • Installation Methods for Custom Showcases, Curtain Walls, Shower Enclosures and Mirrors
  • Proper procedures for sealing windows
  • How to read and interpret architectural plans
  • Estimation of glazing projects
  • Workplace safety protocols (including obtaining an OHSA 30 card)

Apprentice glazier wages start at $19.00 per hour with increases every six months after successful completion of 1,000 hours of on-the-job training and related education. Applicants with previous glazing experience may be eligible for credit towards advanced placement in the program.
