All activities take place at the Multiservice Center at 48, Marion Road, unless otherwise indicated.
Join the Council on Aging for Acrylic Painting Day on December 8th. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., seniors are invited to paint and take home a completed project. The fee is $ 15 and all materials are provided. Space in the classroom is limited, so please call 508-291-3130 to reserve a seat.
On December 10 at 10:30 a.m., the Wareham Garden Club will be offering Garden Therapy. The Garden Club generously provides the materials to create a beautiful arrangement. The course is limited to 18 participants, so call 508-291-3130 to reserve a spot.
On December 14 at 1 p.m., Barbara Pelletier will lead a DIY Christmas decorations. All materials will be provided * Call 508-291-3130 to register in advance. A donation of $ 2 is requested.
The Council on Aging will host a Christmas lunch on December 15 at 11:30 a.m. in the Multiservice Center cafeteria. The menu will include a homemade roast with gravy, mashed potatoes and tomato zucchini. An iced chocolate cake will be served for dessert. Space is limited, so call 508-291-3130 to reserve.
On December 17 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., the Greater Food Bank of Boston will be delivering food orders to those who have already registered.
Anyone who has not subscribed to a monthly distribution of fresh produce and basic necessities on the fourth Friday of each month between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., can do it now. To be eligible, individuals must be 60 years of age or older and have an income of less than $ 1,400 per month for one person or $ 1,900 for two. On December 20, preventive dental services will again be offered by Dental Hygiene Services. These services are covered by mass health standards and affordable rates are available for people without dental insurance. Please call 508-827-6725 to make an appointment or for more information.
Bingo will be back in January, every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. after lunch. It will be cash bingo only. There will also be a raffle for the Advocates for Wareham Seniors.
A four week beginner acrylic painting course is yet another thing to look forward to in 2022. The course will be held Wednesdays (January 26 to February 16) from 10 am to noon. Classes will take place at the Cranberry CafÃ©. Call 508-291-3130 to register by January 19, 2022. Only 12 students will be allowed per class. The $ 40 fee includes all supplies.
Regular activities will continue:
On Mondays, play cribbage from 10 am to noon in Room 208. From 9 am to 10 am, take a temporary circuit exercise class with Marge Blinstrub at the Wareham Free Library. No registration is required. Pay $ 3 at the door.
On Tuesdays, join the Elders for coffee and a chat 9-10 a.m. at the Cranberry Cafe. Learn to play Mahjong from noon to 1 p.m., followed by games at 1 p.m., at the Cranberry Cafe.
At the Multiservice Center on Tuesdays, play chair volleyball at 10 a.m. or practice Tai Chi at 1:30 p.m.
On Wednesdays at 1 p.m., learn how to make mats for the homeless in room 102.
On Thursdays, Chair Yoga with Pam meets at 2 p.m. Registration required.
On Fridays, learn country dance online at the Wareham Free Library with Marge Blinstrub from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. No registration is required. Pay $ 3 at the door.
Take-out lunches continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pick up free lunches courtesy of Old Colony Elder Services at the One Stop Center Handicap Ramp between 9:00 am and 9:30 am Lunches must be reserved at least three days prior to scheduled delivery by calling 508- 291-3130. Senior Tax Work Program forms are available at the ACO office.
