JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – This year, the Boston Marathon returned for its 125th year with the participation of a Jonesboro resident.
Hilltop Family Dentistry employees watched as one of their employees prepare for the Boston Marathon.
On Monday they saw all this hard work cross the finish line.
“It’s tough to say the least,” said Chelsey Saffell, Jonesboro resident and marathoner.
Chelsey Saffell started running in college, continued through high school, and even came to Arkansas State University to run on their cross-country and track team.
âTraining is tough, but having a crowd around you pushes you. As my work family was standing down the hall with signs when I walked in, my last morning of work before I left, âSaffell said.
Saffell’s family and friends have supported him all the way.
The employees there gave him a boost of energy before he left for Boston, with a departure party.
Tammy Bundy was one of those colleagues.
âIt’s like a huge weight on everyone’s shoulders. Because we have hoped and prayed that she will be well. We knew she would and she’s so carefree, running is what she loves, âBundy said.
Saffell finished the race in 3 hours and 32 minutes.
She said crossing that finish line was one of the best feelings.
She is excited to be returning to Jonesboro to share this with her family and friends.
