Piedmont Smiles to Offer Free Dental Care to Area Residents | Lifestyles


The Fauquier Free Clinic will be holding Piedmont Smiles, a free community dental day on October 2 at Fauquier High School in Warrenton. Dental professionals will volunteer to provide cleaning, filling, extraction, oral surgery and endodontics services at the event. (The start time of the event has not yet been determined.)

As the first free dental day in the area, Piedmont Smiles will provide free dental care to eligible uninsured adult residents in the area, including Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison and Orange counties. (Additional information on eligibility will be provided shortly and will be available at Piedmontsmiles.org.)

“In our region, there is a huge need for accessible dental care,” said Rob Marino, director of the Fauquier Free Clinic. “Oral health is an essential component of overall health; it has an impact on your physical health, your mental health and may even have an effect on the social or economic outlook.

Dr Tontra Lowe, Dental Director of Piedmont Smiles, said: “Since the start of the pandemic, dental health has been on the back burner for many. We hope to bring it back to the fore, ”she said. “While Piedmont Smiles is not a permanent solution to the problem of accessible dental care, we hope the event will address any pressing issues for members of our community while raising awareness of the reality that uninsured people in Virginia are facing. confronted. “

Additional support for the event will come from the Virginia Dental Association Foundation and community stakeholders including the PATH Foundation, the Hillsdale Fund, the Virginia Health Care Foundation and the Culpeper Wellness Foundation. Drs. Woodside and Sentz, Griffin and Errera Orthodontics, Digital Mobilizations, Dr. Lowe of Awesome Smiles and Fauquier Health are funding partners.

Patient registration will be done in person starting at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event. Patients are encouraged to bring a list of their current medications. This will facilitate the registration process.
